La desaparición física de Ernesto Dumit señala el fin de una época para las artes de la región… no así el fin de la escuela y la marca que la obra de Ernesto configuraba.
Dumit fue el último de una camada de artistas que cobraba notoriedad allá por mediados de los años 60.
Dumit nunca fomentó domesticar al arte. Vivía el arte en estado "salvaje". Pretendía su arte como una mística. Enfrentaba a la formación académica y a los dogmas. Es parte del legado que pretendemos mantener con vida en esta casa.

Durante años, centenares de talentosos artistas de las nuevas generaciones, se asomaban al taller de Dumit, concibiéndolo como referente inevitable de un modo de ver el arte y de ver la vida. La referencia del maestro no solo comprendía la pintura, sino que su paso por el teatro, la escenografía y su visión integral de las artes, hacían de este viejo sabio un padre multifacético a quien daba gusto escuchar durante horas…
Quienes lo tuvimos cerca, sabemos de sus sueños y de su legado… sabemos que debemos defender su obra de ser olvidada y su figura (en el recuerdo) de ser una leyenda….
Sabemos de su inmensa entrega por la pintura y su inagotable aporte a la cultura tucumana… y de la región…
Somos testigos de ese aporte. Y responsables precarios y libres, de darle proyección en tiempo y espacio a lo que fue un fiesta de vitalidad y sabiduría… su obra… la enorme escuela de su obra…
Su paso generoso y claro por nuestras vidas nos hizo mejores personas…
